Create’s Acoustics Team Shortlisted For Two ANC Awards

May 22, 2025

We’re proud to announce that Create’s Acoustics team has been shortlisted in two categories at this year’s Association of Noise Consultants (ANC) Awards 2025, recognising outstanding achievement in acoustics, noise, and vibration consultancy.

Now in their twelfth year, the ANC Awards highlight excellence across the industry and celebrate innovation and technical skill.  These awards are highly prestigious within the acoustics profession, and it is a real testament to our team’s expertise that both nominated projects were anonymously peer reviewed and deemed worthy of shortlisting.

MULTIPLE NOMINATIONS

These two nominations reflect the expertise and dedication of our team, who continue to deliver high-quality, practical solutions for complex and sensitive environments. The categories we have been shortlisted for are:

Vibration Prediction and Control Award (sponsored by Getzner)

A three-story building under construction with covered windows, waste containers, and materials scattered in the foreground—monitored by an Associate of Noise Consultants to ensure compliance with sound regulations.

St George’s Hospital Intensive Care Unit, Tooting, London

Designed by Floyd Slaski Architects and currently being built by Vanguard Healthcare Systems, the new Intensive Care Unit (ITU) at St George’s Hospital features 20 intensive care beds, isolation rooms, and dedicated staff facilities. The modular building was constructed in a way that minimised disruption, allowing the adjacent and highly sensitive Atkinson Morley Wing to remain fully operational.

Our Acoustics team have played an integral role in the scheme, providing specialist advice and technical support prior to and throughout planning. With the scheme now on site, they have continued to deliver expert vibration prediction and noise control solutions. Their work has ensured that critical vibration limits were maintained to protect delicate medical operations, equipment and patient wellbeing, in a logistically challenging live site.

We have also contributed to the building’s overall environmental performance, with the building aspiring to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating through sustainable design measures.

Building Acoustics Award (sponsored by AcSoft)

Cambridge Investment Partnership

Ironworks, Cambridge

The Mill Road Regeneration scheme is a landmark mixed-use development that includes affordable homes, a community centre, public space, and the sensitive restoration of Grade II-listed heritage buildings.

Our Acoustics team faced complex challenges related to road traffic noise from the busy Mill Road, noise and vibration from the adjacent railway line, and diverse acoustic requirements within the new community centre – a double vaulted multi-use space designed for sports, music, drama, and film.

From initial planning support to detailed acoustic design and testing, our Acoustics team led the efforts to balance internal acoustic comfort with external noise control. They conducted on-site sound insulation measurements and used advanced 3D acoustic modelling to optimise design solutions, ensuring compliance with local policies and British Standards.

Throughout the project, the Acoustics team engaged regularly with the design team and local authorities, performing technical reviews, site visits, and acoustic commissioning.

“Being shortlisted for these two categories shows the dedication of our team in delivering robust, practical, and client-focused solutions. As members of the ANC, we are thrilled to have been nominated – and like them, are committed to high standards and providing our clients with positive project outcomes.”

Jody Blacklock, Technical Director (Acoustics)
