Cambridge City Council’s Paget Road Garages scheme secures planning approval
Create are thrilled to hear that the Paget Road Garages development in Trumpington, Cambridge has secured planning approval. The scheme comprises of four semi-detached, three-bedroom homes, parking and landscaping designed to a high level to meet Building Regulations Part O, Passivhaus Low Energy Building Standard and a target of 30% Biodiversity Net Gain.
Part of the Small Sites Programme, a Cambridge City Council initiative, Paget Road Garages is the first scheme to secure planning approval. The development will help to create new additions to the council’s rented housing stock. The homes are East-to-West facing, which will allow them to maximise the Solar PVs on the roofs. Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery units and Air Source Heat Pumps will be installed. The allocated parking will be suitable for both traditional and electric vehicles.
Members of our Transport & Highways team have been working alongside the project’s architects, Studio Partington, and other members of the project team to support the compilation of a robust planning application. Our team completed a Site Assessment and Access Review, Technical Notes, and Vehicle Swept Path Analysis in support of the development.
The proposals submitted directly addressed several concerns raised by nearby neighbours, including reducing the roof heights. The homes will be built close to one another and feature a prominent shared garden space, with the hopes that community engagement between homeowners and neighbours will be encouraged.
“We are thrilled to have secured planning approval and would like to thank everyone who has helped us so far. These four new homes will help the council to address housing shortages and provide future occupants with energy efficient, modern places to live.”
