Create strengthens its flood risk and water management capabilities, as Sid Thompson starts his career

October 16, 2026

We are delighted to welcome Sid Thompson to Create as a Graduate Flood Risk Consultant. Sid joins us having recently graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Marine Science from the University of Exeter. Whilst studying Sid covered remote sensing, data science and earth system science with a focus on data analysis,  Python data modelling and a module in catchment assessments which will directly input to our active and future projects.

His research dissertation assessed habitat structural complexity within the Cromer Shoal Chalk Beds Marine Conservation Zone. Sid planned and carried out his own data collection, using GIS, Python and photogrammetric modelling software to produce his analysis, maps and models. His findings supported the proposed extension of the boundary.

Since joining us, Sid has been contributing to the production of flood risk assessments and reviewing incoming large data sets for a Special Area of Conservation we are currently working on.

Sid will be based out of our Norwich office, where he will work closely alongside Harry Mansfield, Tracey Tooke and George Baker.

“Sid has made an excellent start, working well with other team members. His combination of modelling skills and coding ability is already proving valuable, helping us to management and analyse large datasets. I look forward to supporting him as he develops his technical skillset further.”
