Recovery Hub for Norwich City FC shortlisted at the Norwich and Norfolk Design and Craftsmanship Awards 2025
Create are thrilled to share that Norwich City Football Club’s Recovery Hub has been shortlisted in the Non-Residential category at this year’s Norwich and Norfolk Design and Craftsmanship Awards.
Entered by Norwich-based LSI Architects, the category recognises civic, cultural, education and commercial projects completed in Norfolk between June 2023 and May 2025. Judges will consider originality and ambition of design, contextual fit, and the contribution each project makes to its environment. Craftsmanship will also be key.
Designed by LSI Architects and built by Lowestoft-based P.J. Spillings, the Hub sets a benchmark for sustainability, design and craftsmanship. Strategically located at the heart of the campus, the building connects seamlessly with the adjacent gym and physiotherapy suites within the First Team complex. Close collaboration with the Club’s Sports Science team has delivered a highly functional, user-focused environment.
Sustainability was a priority from the outset. The facility is fully electric, powered in part by on-site solar PVs, with a highly insulated envelope, natural ventilation and daylighting strategies all contributing to reduced operational energy use.
We are proud to have played our part in this outstanding project, which not only strengthens the Avant Training Centre and surrounding community at Colney, but also enhances player welfare whilst supporting grassroots programmes, academy development and outreach initiatives.
The design team comprised:
- Architect: LSI Architects
- Contractor: P.J. Spillings
- Project Manager/Cost Consultant: Richard Utting Associates
- Consultant: Clancy Consulting
- Building Services Consultant: Create Consulting Engineers
- Pool Consultant: Devin Consulting
The awards ceremony takes place on Thursday 13th November 2025 at the Sainsbury Centre, Norwich.
