Planning permission granted for Gorleston community hospice
Following the submission of an application back in June, Create are delighted to share that St Elizabeth Hospice’s Gorleston community hospice project has now secured planning approval from Great Yarmouth Borough Council.
Planning consent was granted on Thursday 11th September 2025, marking a landmark moment for a scheme that will see the delivery of a new 16-bed inpatient and community hub, to be built by Ipswich-based Barnes Construction.
The new hospice will provide vital care and therapy services for patients, whilst also creating a permanent base for local hospice staff serving the Great Yarmouth and Waveney community. Construction is due to commence in 2026 and is expected to take around two years to complete.
Our involvement builds on many years of collaboration with LSI Architects, appointed as Lead Designer, alongside Guarda Landscape and Castons Artelia. We are also pleased to welcome Barnes Construction to the project team post-planning.
“Securing planning permission for St Elizabeth Hospice’s community hospice in Gorleston is a fantastic milestone for everyone involved. We’re proud of the role our multidisciplinary team has played in helping to shape such an important local facility, and we look forward to continuing our support as the project moves towards construction.
St Elizabeth Hospice provides vital care across East & Mid Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney, and with an ageing population, this new hospice will help ensure residents have access to the palliative care they need.”
