Sean Smeltzer

Technical Director

Who is Sean Smeltzer?

Sean is a Structural Engineer and Technical Director with over 30 years’ experience. He joined Create in 2019 and is responsible for the growth, output and performance of our Structures team. Prior to Create, Sean held senior roles at Ramboll and Mott MacDonald, acting as Project Manager and Design Team Leader on public and private sector schemes. He has considerable international experience and spent time as part of a natural disaster emergency group in Indonesia and Nepal – the latter resulting in him developing the ‘Safe Demolition Guide’.

What does Sean bring to our team?

Sean brings a wealth of structural engineering expertise, placing particular emphasis on buildability, de-risking problems, and programme management. His technical understanding makes him an ideal person to lead or provide expert advice on the structural elements of a scheme.

Outside of work

Sean enjoys attending beer festivals and eclipse chasing – the pursuit of observing solar eclipses as they occur around the earth.
