Sean Smeltzer

Technical Director

Sean is a Structural Engineer and Technical Director with over 30 years’ experience. He joined Create in 2019 and is responsible for the growth, output and performance of our Structures team.

Prior to joining Create, Sean held senior roles for Ramboll and Mott MacDonald. He has acted as a Project Manager and Design Team Leader, working on both public and private sector schemes. Sean has considerable international experience and spent time as part of a natural disaster emergency group in Indonesia and Nepal. The latter of which, resulted in Sean developing the ‘Safe Demolition Guide’.

Sean is a highly capable Structural Engineer, adept at understanding the needs of others and working within tight constraints to provide high quality solutions. He is used to working as part of a multidisciplinary team, and utilises his experience to develop robust structural solutions. Sean places an emphasis on buildability, focusing on de-risking perceived problems, meeting programme requirements, achieving the desired final quality and securing optimum value for money. His leadership abilities, technical understanding and precise communication make him the ideal person to lead or provide expert advice on the structural elements of a project.

Outside of work, Sean enjoys attending beer festivals and eclipse chasing (the pursuit of observing solar eclipses when they occur around the earth).

7 Thames Road for Inland Homes will comprise 131 residential units, landscaping and public realm improvements, play spaces, car parking and other associated and ancillary works. We’ve been supporting the development since 2020.

Timber Works comprises of 118 new council homes and 177 market sale homes, a nursery, central park, open spaces and basement car park. We have provided multidisciplinary services to support Cambridge Investment Partnership’s largest development since 2018.
