BREEAM Assessor / Sustainability Consultant (Senior or Principal level)
We are looking for a talented and experienced BREEAM Assessor or Sustainability Consultant to join our Sustainability team. This role will help us to provide a robust package of services to our clients and to ensure that we maintain our reputation of providing excellent sustainability, energy and environmental services and advice.
Your new role, what’s involved?
- Planning, coordinating, undertaking BREEAM Assessments from feasibility stage through to project completion.
- Leading on day-to-day delivery of BREEAM and sustainability projects.
- Engaging in wider sustainability projects that could include sustainability assessments, life cycle analysis, circular economy and whole life carbon statements, decarbonisation and carbon reporting as per GHG protocols.
- Conducting and chairing meetings or workshops with the client and design team as required.
- Attending client and design team meetings.
- Working closely with the client, design team and contractors in a professional manner to deliver their key sustainability objectives.
- Providing high quality consultancy services and technical support in a wide range of areas pertaining to BREEAM credits and sustainability targets.
- Advising clients or the design team on the most cost-effective and beneficial way to achieve BREEAM targets.
- Advising clients and the project team on BREEAM scores and credit compliance requirements, ensuring that necessary information needed for the assessments are collected and reviewed.
- Preparing validation statements and reports to be submitted to Building Research Establishment (BRE).
- Producing progress reports and updating BREEAM credit tracker.
- Carrying out site audits during the construction phase and preparing accurate records of site visits and meetings/audit reports.
- Responding to BRE QA review comments and closing out non-conformances.
- Assisting with production of BREEAM AP reports at various stages of design and construction.
- Engaging and maintaining healthy relationships with clients.
- Aiding in preparation, monitoring, and reporting of project cost and budgets.
- Preparing technical and commercial fee proposals (scope of work and budget) for BREEAM and sustainability scope.
- Supporting training and knowledge sharing with junior staff and providing training for junior members of the Sustainability team
- Interacting with other members of the business and external clients at all levels.

We would love you to hear from you if you have:
- A relevant (BSc, MSc, etc.) or equivalent degree in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, geography or related sciences.
- A BREEAM Assessor licence (BREEAM New Construction or BREEAM Refurbishment and fit-out) and/or BREEAM AP qualification.
- At least 5 years’ experience as a Sustainability Consultant or similar role.
- You have experience working across a variety of sectors – Residential, Commercial, Defence, Healthcare, etc.
- Excellent numerical proficiency with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, an ability to analyse and sort complex data.
- Experience with relevant or specialist software (Microsoft Office, Word and Excel, etc).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to adapt your writing to our requirements. This includes the production of presentations, reports, letters and marketing material for both internal and external use

- You have wider understanding of sustainability and experience in some of the following sustainability areas: Environmental Impact Assessment, Whole Life-Cycle Carbon (WLC) and Life Cycle Analysis/Assessment (LCA).
- You have a working knowledge of social and digital media channels with a view to using these to promote not only your work but also the business as a whole.
- Be able to demonstrate an ability to be flexible/adaptable and to learn new skills as you be expected work across multiple workstreams.

HOW WE BREAKDOWN OUR LEVELS
Graduate – 0-2 years’ experience with a relevant degree.
Consultant / Assessor – 2-5 years’ experience in the role or similar with some technical expertise and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
Senior Consultant / Assessor– 5-8 years’ experience in the role or similar with a developing set of skills, clearly identifiable technical expertise and direct experience of managing projects, coordinating with clients and supporting other team members.
Principal Consultant / Assessor – 8 or more years’ experience in the role or similar with a robust set of skills, proven technical expertise and an ability to lead projects, coordinate with clients and support other team members.
Associate Director – Substantial experience in the role with recognised technical expertise, the ability to lead multiple large projects, coordinate with clients, support and develop other team members and secure future workstreams/projects for the discipline.
