Non-Domestic Energy Assessor (Senior or Principal level)
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Non-Domestic Energy Assessor, accredited to Level 4 or 5, to join our Sustainability team.
The successful candidate will get the opportunity to work on projects across the UK with a dynamic team of like-minded individuals. The role will require completing energy assessments and other energy-related requirements for clients and design teams. Your new role, what’s involved?
- Conduct energy assessments on a diverse range of commercial buildings, ensuring compliance with UK building regulations.
- Ensuring designs not only meet functional requirements but are fully compliant with all relevant legislation, codes of practice, CIBSE guides, building regulations and best practice and environmentally sensitive.
- Undertake project surveys including site inspections, systems condition, evaluation of post occupancy performances and provide findings.
- Preparing/issuing Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), Buildings Regulations England Part L (BREL) and other reports.
- Preparing high quality information including technical specification, designs, drawings, schedules, reports.
- Liaising closely with other professionals, including structural engineers, builders, architects and surveyors, etc.
- Advise clients and architects on energy use and conservation with the aim of minimising a project’s environmental impact and carbon footprint.
We would love to hear from you if you have:
- A relevant (BEng, MSc, etc.) or equivalent degree in engineering or building services engineering.
- Relevant and proven experience in a similar consultancy role.
- You are an accredited Non-Domestic Energy Assessor (NDEA) at Level 4 or 5.
- Experience of working on residential, mixed-use and commercial properties with low carbon technologies.
- Relevant experience in a similar role and in generating EPCs.
- A passion for sustainability and the built environment.
- Excellent numerical proficiency with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, an ability to analyse and sort complex data.
- Experience with relevant or specialist design software such as IES-VE, Microsoft Office, etc.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to adapt your writing to our requirements. This includes the production of presentations, reports, letters and marketing material for both internal and external use.

- You have experience working across a variety of sectors – Residential, Commercial, Defence, Healthcare, etc.
- You have a working knowledge of social and digital media channels with a view to using these to promote not only your work but also the business as a whole.
- Member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (MCIBSE), Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET) or equivalents.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

HOW WE BREAKDOWN OUR LEVELS
Graduate – 0-2 years’ experience with a relevant degree.
Consultant / Assessor – 2-5 years’ experience in the role or similar with some technical expertise and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
Senior Consultant / Assessor – 5-8 years’ experience in the role or similar with a developing set of skills, clearly identifiable technical expertise and direct experience of managing projects, coordinating with clients and supporting other team members.
Principal Consultant / Assessor – 8 or more years’ experience in the role or similar with a robust set of skills, proven technical expertise and an ability to lead projects, coordinate with clients and support other team members.
Associate Director – Substantial experience in the role with recognised technical expertise, the ability to lead multiple large projects, coordinate with clients, support and develop other team members and secure future workstreams/projects for the discipline.
